Stephan “Slartz” Louwes, a tall dude with a love for keeping things anything but short, hails from Leuven, Belgium. Born on July 28th, 1993, this half Dutch, half Surinamese illustrator started drawing early on—around the same time most artists do, according to him.

Graduating in 2018 with a Master in Graphic Storytelling from Luca School of Arts in Brussels, Slartz is more about passion than profession. Working full-time at Carrefour Market, he happily balances art with life, drawing for the love of it. His work revolves around traditionally drawn themes—think girls, jungles, and all things “stuff”—with occasional digital color, all crafted far away from AI influence.

Not interested in commissions or shipping items, Slartz has published a range of notable works, including the LIMBO series (2019–2023) with Oogachtend and the Moon series (2023–2025) with MENLU and Editions Anspach. His self-published pieces, like Amazine and The Girl and the Slug, stand testament to his independent spirit.

And remember, he doesn’t sell NFTs or anything that involves postage—because art is more than just commerce.
