Belomorkanal is a Leuven-Brussels based instrumental three piece, consisting of Sebastiaan Wets (guitars), Benji Jacobs (Bass) and Simon Bormans (Drums and Synths). They mould extensive progressions into ear wormy musical sagas, going from pounding catchy headbangers (that still might catch you off guard) to melancholic but playful interludes, just to crash back into another wall of big and nasty sound. They have been mercilessly releasing such songs live on their local scene for a little while now.
After extensively trying out various recording formulas (from a river in a valley to a multi million dollar studio), they decided to record their debut album in an old prophaned abbey in the vicinity of Leuven in the spring of 2024. In this album, they partly deliver their by now solid formula but also explore some more friendly and approachable sounds, experiment with radio friendly song lengths and touch on some more math rocky, shoegazey and glitchy vibes.
